Early life
Taposh was born to influential Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and his wife Arzu Moni[2].
Sheikh Mani was a nephew of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Taposh lost both his parents on August 15, 1975 as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members were brutally murdered by some army personnel while staging a coup d’etat.
Career
Taposh was elected to the Jatiyo Sangsad in Bangladesh General Election, 2008 and 2014 from the Dhaka-10 constituency.[3]
Policies
He called for the trial of Mahfuz Anam for supporting the military backed caretaker government.[4] He has criticized Rapid Action Battalion over extra judicial killings.[5]
Bomb attack
Taposh vehicle came under bomb attack on October 21, 2009. There was property damage and 13 people were injured in the attack.[6]
In 2015 there was a bomb attack on his rally.[7]
Criticism
Taposh income has risen from 2.4 million taka in 2008 statement to 23.3 million taka at the end of his first term. His bank deposits increased over 600% during the same period.[8]He accused Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal of making the way for the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.[9]
